Thank you for visiting our website. We will be celebrating our 21st year serving you in 2012. Who would have believed back in 1991 when the first Mornings Kolaches was opened in Clear Lake that today there would be 5 locations. The first Mornings Kolaches was opened in Clear Lake at the Star Plaza shopping center in a tiny 900 square foot space. There was only one oven, one proof box and one cash register. The Salazar brothers knew that their kolaches were the most delicious around and wanted the world to taste them. The Clear Lake location took about 5 months to open because the Salazar brothers did all the build out themselves with the help of a few key friends like David Pearsall who did the electric and American Plumbing who did the plumbing; of course. The first day Mornings Kolaches opened people started flocking to the little shop as if it had been there for years. Within 6 months it became very obvious that the small 900 square foot store was going to have to be expanded. The very next year the store was moved a few spaces down within the same Star Plaza shopping center into a 1400 square foot space. This space was better planned and two more cash registers were added as well as two more ovens and two more proof boxes. Now it was time to increase the selection of kolaches on the menu. In the beginning the menu was very limited. The only items available were the small sausage kolaches, six varieties of fruit kolaches, cream cheese kolaches and cinnamon rolls. One by one the menu grew and so did the following at Mornings Kolaches. Today Mornings Kolaches gets e-mails from adults now living in other cities saying that they grew up with Morning Kolaches every day on their way to school and really miss them now in there new cities. Those e-mails are such a blessing to read. Thanks to the folks in Clear Lake and their word of mouth Mornings Kolaches was a success and after the third year of service opened the second location in La Porte. The La Porte store was so well received by the wonderful people in La Porte that two years later the third store was opened in Deer Park. Both the La Porte and Deer Park stores were first opened in locations different from where they are now. The La Porte store first opened in the old Bull Dog gameroom and later moved to the location on Underwood. The location on Underwood provided for greater visability and exposure and a much better parking situation. Also the landlord at the Underwood location has been an incredible blessing to Mornings Kolaches, but that is another story. Now the Deer Park location had grown tremendously within a few years and had a terrible parking problem in its first location and in 2006 made its move to the new Center Crossing shopping center. What a difference the move made. Customers now have much better parking and much better service. Thanks Deer Park!!! In 2001 the Friendswood location was opened and was received very well by that community. Thanks Friendswood!!! In 2003 the Pasadena location was added to the chain and has been getting stronger every year since it opened. Thanks Pasadena!!! Hope to keep on growing and serving more and more communities. This is the Mornings Kolaches story in a nut shell. Many heartfelt thanks to all of our wonderful customers. It has been more than a pleasure serving you, it has been an honor. Mornings Kolaches has been blessed in many ways. One true blessing has been the great ladies and men who make Mornings Kolaches come alive every morning at the crack of dawn; our beloved employees. God bless them all. Above all we at Mornings Kolaches thank our Father in Heaven for such a great story and for having kissed Mornings Kolaches the day it was born. See you in the Mornings, The Salazar Brothers PS. 2006 was an incredible year for Mornings Kolaches. 2006 saw the opening of the Salazar Brother’s newest creation.
